Catch My Drift?!

Woman celebrating birthday

What do I want to happen in the year ahead? I've never been one to make resolutions, but I have always made goals for the age I am turning. For example, on Dec 31, 2023, I turned 40, and instead of saying, "In 2024, I want to..." I said, "I'm 40 now. What do I want to accomplish?"

If you've followed along with me, you know damn well that 2024 was NOTHING like I had planned, especially in my professional life. Being an author took the biggest back seat it ever had. On January 1st, I just knew I would release four books, go to five signings, and tick another level of success on this hypothetical ladder we all climb.

Instead, I just barely made it out of the year still being able to consider myself an author. The specifics of my personal year are boring (hubby moved to a different state for a job, I was solo parenting for a while, then we had a HUGE move, on top of health issues that I battled, etc). I won't go into the details. But I will tell you that my girls had to come first. The changes in their lives in 2024 were massive, and I know at their age, changes like the ones we experienced weren't easy on them. Then, on top of that, I had to prioritize my health. My 80-year-old lungs make breathing hard sometimes, and the mental toll it takes to even walk on some days (because I have to breathe deeper) is definitely one I don't talk about enough.

So year 40 was tiresome.

What is year 41 going to bring?

What dreams am I going to chase? Which will remain elusive? Does it even matter?

With renewed energy and an eagerness to put 2024 in the rearview mirror, my main goal for my 41st year will be to write: More books, more blogs, more social posts, more special surprises that my brain cannot stop thinking about.

I heard there is a trend where people claim words to help set the tone for their year. Personally, I chose the word Catch.

As in….

I wanna catch a Braves game.

I wanna catch feelings for a new book boyfriend.

I wanna catch a wave at the beach.

I wanna catch the losers who steal from authors.

I wanna catch up on my writing.

I’ll probably catch a flight or two.

I’ll probably catch a cold.

I’ll probably catch a fish.

And somebody’s probably gonna catch these hands.

And my next book is called Catch. (Ahem, you can preorder with a clickity click below...Catch my drift? 😉)

Now cheers! To you, me, and everyone else who is tip-toeing into 2025 and hoping for the best year ever! CATCH you later... 🫣🤣

Love,

Katie
